Peter Dennen, BA, CBCP
Technical Advisor
Mr. Peter Dennen has been involved in emergency management, threat assessment and hazard mitigation for most of his professional career. For over decade Mr. Dennen has been providing technical expertise and consultation services to government and private sector clients, on hazard mitigation planning and program management guidance, disaster response and recovery, homeland security, emergency services, operational planning, continuity of operations/continuity of government planning, and government affairs.
He served with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management for five and one half years. Mr. Dennen served as the grants manager for the following hazard mitigation programs: the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program (PDM), Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA), Repetitive Flood Claims (RFC) and Severe Repetitive Loss (SRL) programs. This role required constant contact and coordination with program grantees, municipal governments and FEMA hazard mitigation personnel.
During his tenure with NJOEM, Mr. Dennen served in the Preparedness Planning and Hazard Mitigation Unit where Mr. Dennen conducted the state portion of the Benefits Cost Analysis requirements for all FEMA submitted projects and managed the State Hazard Mitigation Plan development for the 2005 submission and the 2008 update. He worked with local communities on developing and implementing risk reduction strategies. Mr. Dennen also carried out all of the duties and responsibilities as a watch officer and resource coordination officer within the State Emergency Operations Center.
Peter is a proud graduate of The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina and is a veteran serving as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in the Far East, Mr. Dennen served as the 4th Marine Regiment (Okinawa Japan) Monsoon (Hurricane) Watch Officer during two monsoon events. Responsibilities ranged from pre-event planning, storm tracking, alert and warning, response and recovery activities for the base and its environs.
